I’m reading two books on motivation, three if you consider the Bible a motivational book (I do!) So here are a few things that motivate me. The order of priority changes based on the day, mood, and how much chocolate I’ve had.
- Cancer — My mom died of breast cancer at 50, but they said she’d probably had it for a few years. I turn 40 soon, so I’m getting close to the age she was when she started getting sick. I don’t want to put my family through that, and I don’t want to leave them that early. So I’m getting healthy now!
- 40 — Just knowing I’ll turn 40 as a hottie is a motivator. Plus, if I had a dollar for every time someone said to me, “You know it’s nearly impossible to lose weight after you turn 40, so you’d better do it now,” then I’d be a rich girl. (la la lala lala la la lala la la la la)
- My Kids — I want them to be proud of me. I despise going clothes shopping with them because I hate having to try on clothes in front of them. Especially Victoria Secrets! One time a few years back my son commented that I looked like a hippo. I just about DIED!
- My Daughter — At nine, she watches every move I make. I want her to see a mom that cares about herself, with a positive self-image and a fit physique. Not a fat, unhealthy, tired mom. I need to treat myself the way I want her to treat herself.
- My Business — It’s hard to sell health, wellness and beauty products when you’re not healthy and beautiful yourself. I need to do a more consistent job of using the energy and weightloss products, which I know from experience work really well. That coupled with more exercise, and I can’t lose!
- Self-Confidence — I’d like to think I’m not, but I’m way too influenced by others. When I’m out and see women looking so cute, healthy and fit, it just makes me feel old and fat. I don’t want to feel that way anymore!
- Cute Clothes — This drives my husband crazy, but I REFUSE to buy myself new clothes when I’m this size, unless they’re extremely cheap or it’s absolutely necessary (i.e. wedding/reunion). So the result is I’m fat and wearing cheap clothes. Neither are good. But baby, once I’m at the right weight, I’m hittin’ the mall!
So there you have it. I need to post these on the fridge!

Beautifully said. You have all the motivation you need, and you have all the knowledge you need (the idea that we don’t know HOW to lose weight and get healthy doesn’t really work, does it?). YOU CAN DO THIS. (So can I.)

Great reasons. Great motivation. But darn it, BBQ and lemon treats do get in the way.
You can do it Jen!
