For me, 20 pounds in 20 weeks kicked off last week. I’ve been doing little things in an effort to take off the weight slowly (and permanently). But now that our site is actually up (and beautiful) and Jenn has suggested switching our start date to this week, I figure I’ve got nothing to lose (except 20 more pounds). I say more because I did drop a couple pounds last week. And 20 more pounds would put me at 128.5. Breaking 130 pounds would be a VERY GOOD THING.
See Jenn, I’m all about honesty, too.
At 148.5, I am a half pound from hitting my pre-pregnancy weight. Coincidentally, my son turned eight months old today. It took me about six weeks to lose 20 of the 30 pounds I gained while pregnant and another six and a half months to lose the next 10. The problem is that I was a good 15-20 pounds over what I should be when I got pregnant. That’s what I’m aiming to lose now.
I’m keeping the same starter rules from last week and adding to them. Here are the new rules:
- Drink a glass of water before any treat or soda (and I’m not talking about gulping it down as I unwrap a piece of candy, but drinking it slowly and giving myself a little time to think about whether I REALLY want that treat or soda). After drinking water and brushing my teeth, I figure few treats will still sound good (I’m hoping, anyway).
- 90 total minutes of run/walk (3 30-minute sessions). 12 of 30 minutes should be actual running.
- 19 knee pushups and 1 real pushup every morning (this will eventually get me to my 20 real pushups)
- 1 lunch M-F must be a healthy turkey sandwich (no mayo or cheese)
- 2 sets of my magic ab workout 3 x per week
I’m glad this is a slow process, by the way. It allows me to have a little fun. For example, there’s tonight. We’re celebrating our 4-year anniversary. Our only rule is that we do something we’ve never done before. So we’re checking out a new (to us) restaurant and on the way home, will stop for dessert. Strawberry cobbler with cream. I had this particular dessert while working an event about six years ago and haven’t stopped talking about it since. So my husband is treating me. I know, I know: the calories! the fat! But the difference this time is that I have not splurged all day in preparation for this and I’m going to be indulging in something that matters (as opposed to the mindless eating I usually do).
I am leaving my tooth brush at home, too.
