When my husband asks me for a favor, I say, “it’ll cost you.”  My fee?  Kisses and compliments.  He usually tells me I’m beautiful (not bad) and gives me a few smooches (always good).  It works every time.

The other day I got a great compliment (no kisses, however, to be clear).  An assistant in my department stopped me and asked if I’d lost weight.  “You look thinner from the face on down,” he said.  Now, I could have taken this to mean I was some kinSee full size imaged of lumbering walrus prior to that day, but I was instead happy.  Depending on how you count it, I’ve lost almost  5 pounds already and it’s possible that it could show.  It’s a little unlikely if I’m being totally honest, but I’m going to go with the idea that what I’m doing is not only working, but it’s apparent to others.

The best part is that I typically see this assistant after meeting with my boss.  This often causes a little angst — at the very least added work (it’s my boss, after all) and I head straight for a nearby shelf and help myself to a handful of peanut butter M&Ms.  That day — and every day since — I skipped the shelf.

Now that’s progress.

OMG, peanut butter M&Ms!!!! I can’t believe the temptations you must have in your office! Working from home, I only have the temptations that I myself have purchased, so I’m able to keep them to a minimum. I thought the mini Snickers were bad, but there’s no way I could pass up PBM&Ms!
