I committed to fruit with my original rules for all of the obvious reasons. It’s good for you… fiber, vitamins, etc.
A nutritionist friend of mine once told me that a great way to curb the sugar in my diet was to eat a couple apples every day till the cravings waned. I’m learning that if I have small gala apples on hand all the time (yummy), they help me avoid a lot of bad things. I’ve taken to eating an apple at around 5 p.m. — or on my way home from work. It helps me say NO to the crackers and cheese I’ll want when I walk in my home. Last night I was searching the cabinets for a quick snack… nothing sounded good… (fortunately, the cookies I made over the weekend were aptly frozen). Then I thought “I’ll have an apple.”
That’s gotta be good, right?
