Tell me, could you have resisted this?
Went to BNI this morning (Biz Networking Int’l) and the guy next to me had this AMAZING cherry concoction with frosting, glazing, and a gorgeous flaky crust. I sat there for 20 minutes gazing with more than a little lust at this pastry and debating if I should go get one. Thoughts were careening through my head:
“This is exactly the kind of thing I should NOT be doing.” – ”Man, I bet that frosting tastes yummy.” – ”I bet Cheryl has some kind of rule that would apply to this.” – ”Wonder if it tastes as good as it looks?” – ”That thing probably has so many preservatives in it that it could last for 10 months without getting gross.” – “If I had an Arbonne shake for lunch, I could probably make up on the calories, right?” – ”It’s made from cherries and that’s a fruit, and Cheryl said I should eat more fruit.”
People usually get up and grab another cup of joe or pastry when the first 10-minute presentation starts, but the fates were working in my diet’s favor today because the person giving the presentation was sitting right next to me. I would have had to stand up and walk around him while he was talking, with all eyes on me and my rudeness, to be able to get to the patries. By the end of the meeting, I had talked myself out of it.
So that’s one small step for Jenn, one giant leap toward being a healthy new me! Take that, Diet Devil! Not even your delicious cherries could tempt me! (Well, they actually totally tempted me, but I didn’t fall for it!)
