Kentucky has turned into a frozen tundra. Not since I was 7 have I seen anything like it here in the South. The kids are even starting to get bored with it!  What does this have to do with dieting? Everything!

As with most people, when I’m bored, I eat. And when it’s really cold outside, I seek comfort food. And I pretty much seek wine when I’m bored, cold, bored and cold, or even entertained and warm. I just like wine!  Plus, my husband got us all sorts of candy for Valentine’s Day and it’s just sitting around, looking at me. To make matters worse, my Jazzercise classes keep getting cancelled because the instructor lives out in the country and can’t to class.

Needless to say, the diet hasn’t been going so well this week. I’m sure Cheryl would have a great rule or suggestion, like “instead of sitting around watching the Olympics, go out and shovel some snow to get a good workout.”  Or “why don’t you walk to the grocery store and buy some fresh veggies, which will give you both exercise and a healthier eating option.”

Yes, those would both be great strategies. And if anyone reading this is in the same situation, I highly recommend them! But for me, I’m kind of comfy sitting on the couch, eating Reece’s cups and watching TV under a warm blanket. It’s only 1 pm, so I haven’t gotten a glass of wine yet. But hey, as my fave Jimmy Buffett says, “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere!”
