One of my goals is to be a better mom. Sometimes I left my frustration and hectic life get the better of me, particularly when we’re pressed for time and have too much to do. But I am patting myself on the back today because I think I’ve done a pretty good job for the last 24 hours.

Last night was a tad stressful — had a PR plan that was due immediately (as in “need to email within the next 30 minutes”), but the kids had just gotten home from school and wanted my attention, Sully needed help with his dinosaur model, and dinner needed to be made before my hubby headed off to band practice. What to do?

Ran down, got supper started and asked my hubby to finish it up for me. Ran upstairs to finish the PR plan, and it actually didn’t turn out too bad. Kissed my hubby goodbye and promised the kiddos cokefloats for dessert if they took a shower first. Very supportively and lovingly addressed a somewhat minor pre-teen crisis with minimal tears shed. Ate cokefloats and watched Finneas & Ferb with the kids, helped Baker study for a science quiz, then got both kids to bed ontime. And to top things off, there were no fights this morning and everyone got to school in a good mood.

One of life’s small accomplishments, but I’m still proud of myself. If I can finish off tonight in the same way, it just might qualify for a Guinness World Record.
